Dr. Sylvia Zuniga-Barboni

Dr. Sylvia Zuniga-Barboni is a board certified neurologist who specializes in treating multiple neurological disorders. She received a bachelor’s of science in Psychobiology with honors from the University of Miami in 1997. She received her medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2001. She completed a one year Internal Medicine internship and Neurology residency at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital from 2001-2005. She completed her fellowship in Electrodiagnostic Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Florida in 2006.

Dr. Zuniga-Barboni is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and also board certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine (nerve testing and electromyography- EMG) by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and the American Board of Integrative and Holistic medicine. She has an interest in preventative medicine and has recently become board certified by the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine.

Dr. Zuniga-Barboni is fluent in Spanish and English. She does her own testing and interpretation. She has an EEG technician on staff for office electroencephalograms (EEG) which Dr. Zuniga-Barboni interprets herself. While at the University of Miami and Cleveland Clinic, she received additional training on the use of Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) for both neurological conditions and cosmetic indications.

Dr. Sylvia Zuniga-Barboni does not perform surgery but if surgery is indicated she will refer the patient to the appropriate surgeon. Since the brain and nervous system are integral to the body’s functioning, Dr. Zuniga-Barboni frequently works with other specialists as well as primary care doctors.

Our Staff

Lori Bologna

                                                                    Lori is our EEG Technician, who has been with us for over 4 years. She previously worked as an EEG Tech for Wellington Regional Hospital and was trained as a Medical Assistant. She also helps cover our reception desk, a few times a week, and assists with patient’s questions and test results.

Jay Figueroa

Yajaira likes to go by “Jay.” She is one of our medical billing and coding specialist with over 18 years experience and has worked for us for over 10 years. She is our Botox specialist and has up to date knowledge on Botox FDA indications, policies and coverage limitations. She also obtains prior authorizations and prepares letters of medical necessity for Botox treatments and, when needed, for IVIG infusions. She has Medical Assistant training and helps with patient’s questions and test results.
